Marathon Cheer Sign

August 2025

This cheer sign is not a card, but I pulled out my familiar kit of card-making materials and I was quite proud of the use of different materials to pull off a somewhat cohesive and also noticeable card for my sister running a marathon.

I printed photos of my sister and our family to paste on the sides. I free-handed her name (thankfully quite straightforward, I might have cried if she had a Q in her name), and some little decals that represented her journey (running shoes - she got new ones for training, water bottle to remind her to stay hydrated, and a little phone with the Strava logo).

The gold perimeter was definitely a choice… I had this shiny, reflective gold paper from Dollarama so many years back, and I have only used it once or twice. It came with a gold, silver, and bronze, so of course I chose gold to represent a "W" for my sister. I was hesitant because it might seem too flashy or gaudy, but it ended up being the flashiness we needed for her to see us on the sidelines amongst the crowds of people.

As per my sister and my little brother's request, I also put a reference to "6-7" that is now trending on social media (I still don't really understand it but we earned some compliments and laughs from other people watching the marathon).
